Toddler Philosophy

Our toddler program is based on a child’s Physical, Social/Emotional, and Intellectual development. Throughout all the learning centers these facets will be addressed.

Physical development will be accomplished with both indoor and outdoor activities. Some tools to aide this development will include a variety of different size and textured balls for catching and throwing, push and pull toys, a large open area to run, appropriate climbing equipment and wheeled toys without pedals for outdoor activities. Indoor activities will include stacking different size objects and blocks, an opportunity for scribbling and manipulating their fingers to correctly hold a writing instrument, drinking out of a cup and using eating utensils. All of this will help foster a child’s fine motor skills. They also will start to learn some self sufficient skills such as beginning to toilet train at their own rate, and washing their hands.

We will foster their Social, Emotional and Intellectual development by offering an environment rich with books, music, dramatic play area and daily interaction to enhance their vocabulary, teach them their shapes and colors and to start number recognition.

As professionals in child development we recognize the need for alone time and solitary play time. We will offer a less stimulating environment for those children that sometimes need the opportunity to wind down or simply have some alone time. We will have individual teacher child quiet times when needed.

A daily sheet will go home with toddlers recapping their entire day, including toileting, nutrition and nap time.
